Fiddler on the Roof - May 2022
The award-winning tale of Tevye the Dairyman and his family’s struggles in a changing Russia is a true musical theatre tradition.
Touching audiences worldwide with its humor, warmth and honesty, this universal show is a staple of the musical theatre canon.
Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof's universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.
With iconic and beloved songs such as "Sunrise, Sunset," "If I Were a Rich Man" and "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," Fiddler on the Roof is the perfect mix of audience-pleasing humor and heart.
Due to Covid, our May 2021 performance was especially creative! Our players put on an exciting outdoor theater in the round presentation of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. This dramatization of C.S. Lewis' classic work faithfully recreated the magic and mystery of Aslan, the great lion, his struggle with the White Witch, and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wandered from an old wardrobe into the exciting, never-to-be-forgotten Narnia.
Sadly, due to COVID, we had to cancel our May, 2020 performace of The Wizard of Oz.
This magical celebration of the 1939 MGM movie was originally scheduled to be presented with breathtaking special effects to sweep audiences away. From the moment the tornado twisted its way into Kansas and being lost in an unfamiliar land surrounded by munchkins, flying monkeys, witches, and the Great and Powerful Oz, Dorothy was going to be followed in her quest down the Yellow Brick Road to find her way back home.
“Over the Rainbow,” “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead” and “If I Only Had A Brain" ensembles were scheduled as part of a full musical theater experience. Along with the beloved characters, The Wizard of Oz would have been sure to captivate the entire family as our Renaissance traveled down the Yellow Brick Road for an unforgettable day at the theater.
