Kindergarten Programs at Renaissance Academy
Renaissance Academy offers three exceptional kindergarten programs designed to suit the diverse needs of families. Each program is crafted to provide an enriching and flexible educational experience.
- Young 5s (1-Day Program)
- Kindergarten (1-Day Program)
- Kindergarten (2-Day Program)
Program Prerequisites:
- Kindergarten students must turn 5 years old before September 1 of the enrollment year.
- Young 5 students must turn 5 between June 1 and December 1 of the enrollment year.
- All students must be fully toilet trained, independent in personal care, and able to separate easily from parents during curbside drop-off.
- Students should demonstrate age-appropriate behavior, including the ability to share, take turns, cooperate, follow instructions, and avoid disruptive behaviors.
Each of our programs emphasizes social, emotional, and character development, and small class sizes allow instructors to build strong connections with each student.
1-Day Programs
Renaissance Academy offers a 1-day program through the Renaissance Homeschool Group, available on Monday (Highland), Wednesday (Farmington Hills), or Friday (Farmington Hills), from 10:00 a.m. to 2:25 p.m. (with an optional 9:00 a.m. start time for Team Games participants). Students meet for 14 weeks each semester.
Young 5 and Kindergarten students are together in a self-contained classroom, engaging in developmentally appropriate, play-based activities that emphasize hands-on learning. The curriculum includes physical fitness, art, math, science, language arts, and social studies, enriching the at-home learning experience led by parents or guardians.
Our Young 5 program is perfect for younger students who would benefit from a two-year kindergarten experience. In the second year, students transition to the regular Kindergarten program for continued growth and development.
Please note: The experience is identical on all days, and attendance beyond the assigned day is not permitted.
While the program does not provide at-home curriculum, the onsite activities are designed to complement any home-based curriculum. This flexible program supports families who prefer choosing their curriculum and pacing while benefiting from a valuable in-person learning experience.
2-Day Program
The 2-day program through Renaissance Hybrid Academy meets on Tuesday and Thursday at Farmington Hills from 9:00 a.m. to 2:25 p.m. This program runs for 18 weeks each semester, with 15 weeks of in-person instruction and 3 weeks of at-home learning.
Kindergarten students participate in a balanced combination of play-based and formal instruction in Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies. The program includes two on-site learning days and three at-home days each week. Professional instructors lead the classroom experience, using a blend of classical, traditional, and project-based learning methods.
Parents serve as learning coaches, supporting their children’s at-home learning by following the pacing and assignment schedule provided by the instructor.
The hybrid model offers a structured curriculum, allowing families to enjoy a connection with their child’s education while maintaining flexibility during at-home learning days. All curriculum materials and academic pacing are provided, and families agree to follow the outlined schedule and curriculum.
